Serendip Sri Lanka Getaway
Tour Overview
Spend 7 days in Sri Lanka exploring a mix of cultural landmarks, cool hill-country scenery, coastal experiences and Colombo city life. Serendip Sri Lanka Getaway covers Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Bentota and Colombo, with added visits to Sigiriya and Dambulla along the way.
The journey begins with a transfer from Colombo to Kandy, stopping at Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage en route. With two nights in Kandy, you’ll also take a full-day trip to Sigiriya Rock Fortress and Dambulla Cave Temple, two of Sri Lanka’s best-known heritage attractions.
Next, spend two nights in Nuwara Eliya, one of the highlights of this route. The hill town is known for its cool climate, tea estates and colonial character. Visit places such as Gregory Lake, Victoria Park, Sita Eliya and Pedro Tea Estate, where you can learn more about traditional Ceylon tea production. The itinerary also includes a visit to Sita Amman Temple, adding a Ramayana connection to the journey.
From the hills, continue south towards Bentota for a night by the coast. Stop at the Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery and learn about local sea turtle conservation before enjoying Bentota’s relaxed seaside atmosphere.
The final part of the trip takes you to Colombo, where sightseeing includes Independence Square, Galle Face Green, Viharamahadevi Park, the World Trade Centre Towers and the Old Parliament Building before departure.
With private road transfers, comfortable hotel stays and selected meals included, this 6-night, 7-day route works well for travellers who want to see Sri Lanka’s heritage sites, tea country, beaches and capital city in one trip.
Note: The placement of Bahirawakanda Temple and the Hakgala Gardens inclusion should be confirmed against the final operating itinerary before publication.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, this is a comfortably paced version of the classic Sri Lanka circuit — 2 nights each in Kandy and Nuwara Eliya means you're not doing everything as a rushed day trip, plus a night each in Bentota and Colombo to end on the coast before flying out.
Around 5 hours by car on Day 3. It's a winding hill-country route, so if anyone in your group gets carsick, plan for stops and maybe carry motion sickness tablets — this is the longest single transfer in the whole trip.
The itinerary has conflicting notes about this — Day 3 says it's covered on Day 4, and Day 4 says it's covered on Day 3, but neither day's actual plan mentions visiting Hakgala. Confirm directly with your travel advisor whether this stop is actually included before you book, since as written it doesn't appear anywhere.
Generally yes, and this is a common route for Indian family groups. The main physical consideration on this specific itinerary is the Sigiriya Rock climb on Day 2 — everything else (temples, gardens, tea estates, city tours) is relatively easy walking.
Check the current Sri Lanka visa requirement on the official government site before booking, since rules can change. Apply well ahead of your 15 Jan travel date — the operator can assist with the application, but approval is entirely up to the Sri Lankan authorities, and there's no refund if it's delayed or rejected.
Sri Lankan Rupees for small vendors and local transport; major hotels and city restaurants accept cards. Entrance fees for sites like Sigiriya and Dambulla are usually paid in cash or USD directly at the counter, so carry some with you on excursion days.
