How These 18 Packages Break Down
Eighteen options is a lot to scroll through, so here’s a faster way to pick:
Want a quick trip, 4 nights, under ₹52,000? Try Lanka’s Trip to Kandy, Sri’s Trip to Colombo, Lanka’s Trip to Sigiriya, or Trip to Kandy. These cover the highlights without cramming your days.
Care more about the rock fortress and cave temples than the beach? Go for Lanka’s Trip to Sigiriya, Lanka’s Trip to Dambulla, or Blue Waves Holiday.
Want a bit of everything — hills and coast, 5 to 7 nights? Elite Pearl Getaway, Serendip Sri Lanka Getaway, Mystic Lanka, Ceylon Discovery Tour, Coral Coast Bliss Tour, and Whispers of Lanka all sit in this middle range.
Mostly want beach time? Tropical Waves Holiday spends 4 of its 6 nights between Galle and Bentota.
Want to skip the usual tourist route? Prestige Pearl Tour is the only package that goes to Trincomalee on the east coast — and it runs on a different weather calendar than the rest (more on that below).
Want a wildlife safari built in, not just temples and beaches? Ocean Breeze Getaway and Lanka Coastal Charm Tour are the only two with Yala National Park.
Want one long trip that covers as much ground as possible? Peaks to Plains Adventure Tour and Island Aura Experience run 7-8 nights and cover the widest spread.
Places to Visit in Sri Lanka
Here’s what you’re actually getting at each stop on these routes.
Kandy Sri Lanka’s old royal capital, built around a lake in the hills. Home to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, one of the most important sites in Buddhism, and usually where you’ll catch a traditional Kandyan dance show. It shows up in 13 of the 18 packages — more than any other place.
Colombo The commercial capital, and where most trips start and end. Colonial buildings, the Galle Face Green seaside walk, the Gangaramaya Temple, and the busy market streets of Pettah. Most packages give it just one night as a bookend, not the main event.
Bentota West coast beach town, calm water, good for jet skiing and banana boat rides. There’s a turtle hatchery nearby at Kosgoda and river safaris on the Bentota Ganga. This is the default beach stop in most routes here.
Sigiriya A rock fortress from the 5th century, rising about 200 metres out of the jungle, with old palace ruins, painted frescoes, and water gardens at the base. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most photographed spots in the country.
Nuwara Eliya A hill town almost 1,900 metres up, nicknamed “Little England” for its colonial-era bungalows and cool weather. Surrounded by tea estates. Gregory Lake is the main stop in town.
Dambulla Known for the Golden Cave Temple, five caves holding over 150 Buddha statues and murals close to 2,000 years old. Usually paired with Sigiriya since they’re close by.
Galle A fort city on the south coast, built by the Dutch. The old ramparts and cobbled lanes are now full of small shops and cafes looking out at the ocean. Also a UNESCO site.
Negombo A coastal town close to the airport, built around a fishing lagoon. Mostly used as a first or last night stop because it’s a short drive from the airport.
Trincomalee On the east coast, known for a huge natural harbour, the Nilaveli and Uppuveli beaches, whale watching, and the Koneswaram Temple on a cliff. Only Prestige Pearl Tour goes here.
Ella A small hill town known for the Nine Arch Bridge, the scenic train ride from Kandy, and the Little Adam’s Peak hike. Only in the two longer, safari-inclusive packages.
Yala National Park Sri Lanka’s most-visited wildlife park, and one of the best places in the world to spot a leopard it has one of the highest leopard densities anywhere. Also elephants, crocodiles, and plenty of birdlife. Only in Ocean Breeze Getaway and Lanka Coastal Charm Tour.
Why People Keep Picking These Same Places
- You can actually walk through the tea estates, not just look at them from the road. Sri Lanka is the world’s fourth-largest tea producer, and Nuwara Eliya’s gardens are still picked by hand. That’s why 10 of the 18 packages route through there.
- A real leopard safari, not just a drive around an empty park. Yala has one of the highest leopard densities anywhere on earth a good reason to pick Ocean Breeze Getaway or Lanka Coastal Charm Tour if wildlife matters to you.
- Sites you can climb, not just look at from behind a rope. Sigiriya’s rock fortress and Dambulla’s cave temples are over a thousand years old, and you walk the same steps and see the same paintings as everyone before you.
- Two very different coasts. The west and south (Bentota, Galle) are calm, resort-style beach time. The east (Trincomalee, only on Prestige Pearl Tour) is quieter and runs on a different season good to know before you pick your travel month.
- Getting there is easy. Under 3.5 hours from any major Indian city, and a free 30-day visa means less paperwork than most other international trips in this price range.
What’s Included, What’s Not
Every package above includes four things: hotels, transfers, meals as per the itinerary, and guided tours. Here’s what that actually covers, so nothing surprises you later:
Included:
- A hotel for every night listed in your route
- Airport pickup and every transfer between cities, by private AC vehicle
- Meals as listed for your package (check with our team whether it’s breakfast only or half board)
- Guided sightseeing at the places in your itinerary
Not included — plan for these separately:
- Flights to and from Colombo
- Nothing for the visa — it’s free, but you still need to apply for it yourself
- Personal spending, tips, and any activity not listed in your itinerary
- Travel insurance
- Entry tickets that aren’t part of the guided tour [to confirm with operations — right now “Tours” doesn’t say exactly which entrance fees are covered]
Sri Lanka Visa for Indians — What’s Actually True in 2026
If you’ve read elsewhere that Indians pay a visa fee for Sri Lanka, that’s out of date. As of 2026, Indian passport holders travel on a free ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization). This has been the case since September 2024, and Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to India confirmed it again in February 2026. A few sites are still quoting an old $25–50 fee ignore those.
- Cost: Free for Indians
- Valid for: 30 days from the day you land
- Can I stay longer? Yes, you can extend from inside Sri Lanka, up to 180+ days with approval
- Where to apply: eta.gov.lk do it yourself, no agent needed
- What you need: A passport valid for 6+ months past your travel dates, a return ticket, and proof of where you’re staying
How to Reach Sri Lanka from India
Flying is really your only option Sri Lanka is an island, there’s no train or road link from India. Direct flights to Colombo run from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai, and take 1.5 to 3.5 hours depending on where you fly from.
Money in Sri Lanka
The local currency is the Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR), written as “Rs” or “රු.” As a rough guide, 1 Indian Rupee is worth around 3.5 Sri Lankan Rupees this changes daily, so check a live rate closer to your travel date rather than trusting a fixed number.
Carry a bit of cash along with a card. ATMs are easy to find in Colombo, Kandy, and other tourist towns, less so in smaller places. Hotels and bigger restaurants take cards, but tuk-tuks and small shops are usually cash-only. Many travellers carry USD and change it on arrival, since it tends to get a slightly better rate than INR.
Essential Tips Before You Travel
- Carry some cash. Cards work at hotels and bigger restaurants, but tuk-tuks and small shops are usually cash-only.
- Skip the tap water. Stick to bottled or filtered water the whole trip.
- Dress modestly at temples. Cover your shoulders and knees, and take your shoes off before going in this applies everywhere on these routes, including Kandy’s Temple of the Sacred Tooth.
- Ask before you take someone’s photo. Just good manners, especially outside the bigger towns.
- Pack mosquito repellent. Matters more on the Yala and Ella packages, and anywhere you’re outdoors in the evening, than in a Colombo hotel room.
- Pack light clothes for the coast, and one warm layer for Nuwara Eliya. The hill country is a lot cooler than everywhere else on the route.
Best Time to Visit Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka gets hit by two monsoons, on opposite sides of the island so “best time” really depends on which coast your package covers, not the calendar as a whole.
| Region | Best Months | Why |
| West & South coast (Bentota, Galle, Colombo) + hill country (Kandy, Nuwara Eliya) | December – March | This side is dry now; also the busiest tourist months |
| East coast (Trincomalee) | May – September | This side is dry while the west coast gets its rain |
Most Journey Tank packages stick to the west, south, and hill-country belt, so December to March is your safest bet for weather on most of these routes. The one exception is Prestige Pearl Tour, since it goes to Trincomalee for that one, May to September works better.
How to Choose the Right Package
- First trip to Sri Lanka, not much time off? Go with one of the 4-night packages Lanka’s Trip to Kandy is the cheapest, at ₹45,052.
- Want to see the rock fortress and cave temples specifically? Lanka’s Trip to Sigiriya or Lanka’s Trip to Dambulla.
- Want real time in tea country, not just a drive-past? Look for packages with 2 nights in Nuwara Eliya Serendip Sri Lanka Getaway, Ceylon Discovery Tour, Coral Coast Bliss Tour, or Whispers of Lanka.
- Want a wildlife safari in the mix, not just temples and beaches? Ocean Breeze Getaway or Lanka Coastal Charm Tour.
- Want to go somewhere less crowded? Prestige Pearl Tour is the only one that reaches the east coast.
- Want one trip that covers as much as possible? Island Aura Experience or Peaks to Plains Adventure Tour.
