Lanka’s Trip to Sigiriya
Tour Overview
This 5-day Sigiriya Kandy Bentota tour covers three of Sri Lanka's most-visited regions, combining ancient sites, hill-country culture, and a beach finish, with a full Colombo city tour built into the departure day.
The trip opens with a transfer from Colombo Airport to Sigiriya, a drive of four to five hours, with the rest of the day free to rest. One night in Sigiriya is followed by a stop at Ritigala, a forest mountain linked to Hindu mythology and home to ancient Buddhist monastery ruins, before continuing to Kandy. In Kandy, the trip includes a visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, one of Buddhism's most important pilgrimage sites, where a relic believed to be Buddha's tooth is enshrined.
The two nights in Kandy include a full-day excursion to Nuwara Eliya, covering the Hakgala Botanical Garden, Gregory Lake, Victoria Park, and a working Ceylon tea factory. From Kandy, the trip heads to the coast for one night in Bentota, with a stop at the Madu River for a mangrove boat safari and a visit to a sea turtle conservation project.
The final day combines checkout with an extended Colombo city tour before airport drop-off — covering Colombo Fort, the Pettah bazaar and goldsmith quarter, Kelaniya Buddhist Temple, Dewatagaha Mosque, and the BMICH convention hall, with time for last-minute shopping.
Accommodation covers three stays: Sigiriya (1 night), Kandy (2 nights), Bentota (1 night). Breakfast is included only in Bentota; Sigiriya and Kandy hotels are room-only. Private road transport covers the full route.
