Overview

From ancient rock fortresses and sacred temples to mist-covered tea hills and tropical beaches, Peaks to Plains Adventure Tour brings together some of Sri Lanka’s most varied landscapes in one 7-night, 8-day journey. The route covers Colombo, Dambulla, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Bentota, making it a great choice for travellers who want culture, nature and coastal relaxation in a single holiday.

The journey begins in Colombo before moving towards Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle. In Dambulla, explore the remarkable Dambulla Cave Temple and discover centuries-old Buddhist art and statues. One of the major highlights is Sigiriya Rock Fortress, where ancient ruins, landscaped gardens and panoramic views make for one of the most memorable experiences of the trip.

Continue towards Kandy through Matale, stopping at a spice garden along the way. In Kandy, visit the revered Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and experience the city’s rich cultural heritage, with an optional traditional dance performance adding a local touch to your stay.

The scenery changes dramatically as the journey climbs into Nuwara Eliya. Tea plantations, cool mountain air and cascading waterfalls define this part of the trip. Visit Sri Bhaktha Hanuman Temple, learn how Ceylon tea is produced at a tea factory, and take in the views around Ramboda Falls.

From the hills, the route descends towards Bentota for two relaxing nights by the coast. Visit the Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery and spend time discovering the traditional cinnamon-making process on Cinnamon Island, while enjoying the slower pace and tropical surroundings of Sri Lanka’s southwest coast.

With comfortable hotel stays, private transfers, selected meals and key sightseeing included, this itinerary delivers a true Sri Lanka Hills & Heritage Escape moving seamlessly from historic landmarks and mountain scenery to beaches and local experiences before returning to Colombo for departure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is 1 night in Dambulla enough to see Sigiriya properly?
Yes, for an overnight stop — you arrive, visit Sigiriya Rock and Dambulla Cave Temple the same day, and move on to Kandy the next morning. Just note the physical climb: Sigiriya Rock involves around 1,200 steps, some steep, so factor in time and energy for it right after your Day 2 travel.
How difficult is the Sigiriya Rock climb?
It's a real physical climb rather than a walk — manageable for most fit adults but worth planning around if anyone in your group has knee issues, heart conditions, or a fear of heights.
Is the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic entrance fee included?
No, it's USD 7 per person, paid directly. The Kandy cultural dance show is a separate USD 7 per person, also paid directly and not included in the package.
What is covered on the Nuwara Eliya to Bentota transfer day?
Day 6 includes a visit to the Kosgoda Sea Turtle Conservation Project after checking in at your Bentota hotel.
Is Marino Beach Colombo actually on the beach?
It faces the Indian Ocean with a rooftop infinity pool, but there's no direct beach access — it's across the main road from the beach.
