Thimphu and Paro Mountain Explorer
Tour Overview
Bhutan is a truly unique place, sitting high up in the Himalayas between India and China. For a long time, this mountain kingdom was closed off to the outside world, preserving a way of life that feels wonderfully untouched by modern rush. On this 6-day Thimphu Paro tour package, you'll travel through the heart of Bhutan's two main hubs: Thimphu and Paro.
The trip starts in Thimphu, a capital city so laid-back it doesn't have a single traffic light instead, a traffic policeman directs cars with expressive hand signals. In Thimphu, you'll visit the Folk Heritage Museum, National Library, Handicrafts Center, Takin Zoo, and the massive Buddha statue.
From there, you'll take a day trip to the high Dochula Pass, walking among the 108 Druk Wangyal memorial stupas at 10,000 feet with panoramic Himalayan views, before stopping in Hongtsho village for fresh mountain apples.
The trip then winds down into Paro valley, where you'll see the National Museum inside Ta Dzong, the ancient Paro Dzong, the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong, and the 7th-century Kyichu Lhakhang temple, plus a visit to a traditional farmhouse.
